Bard of the bike

22 05 2012

Storm clouds threaten.

To ride, or not to ride; that is the question;
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The cold and dampness of a sudden spring shower,
Or to concede to the forecast and ride another day,
And stay warm and dry at home? To pedal; to ride;
No more; and to ride to say we end
The sloth and the extra weight
That flesh is heir to, ’tis a consequence
Devoutly to be avoided. To pedal; to ride;
To ride; perchance to risk the storm’s onset; ay, there’s the rub;
For in that storm what rains may come
When we have ventured far from the couch’s comfort,
Must give us pause; there’s the grit and grime
That makes calamity of such a soggy ride;
For who would bear the wind and rain of storms,
The decision made, the determined cyclist departs
The clouds all around, the sun in shroud.

I don’t think I’ve ever associated cycling with poetry!

Wow, that brought a tear to my eye – oh wait, it was just my allergies 😉
But really, very nice.

Mario it is time to get back to work, so you can get those urges to write out of your system. Or better yet, Sunshine so you can get off the couch. Love the blog entries.

Brilliant prose, but pretty sure this one showed up in The Killing — the teacher’s letters.

You’re a poet and I didn’t know it.

But seriously, who knew you had it in you. Sure, the soul of a poet, but the words, too. Good thing you’re not a photographer anymore.

Tried to do this very early this am. But it wouldn’t accept my post. Mario this is awesome love it!,

I have of late, but wherefore I know not,
Foregone all custom of exercise;
In fact, I don’t exercise at all,
But that is another story.
Indeed it goes so heavily upon me,
That this goodly frame – and I don’t mean
My chubby body – seems but a stale promontory,
Things rank and gross in nature possess it merely.
Except you and Katie, sparkling, as it were
In a ride around a summer rain.

Keep them tyres round 🙂

A nice twist to your regular posts. Keep up the good work.

So this is what wet weather and a lack of riding can do to someone, drive them to poetry, good job by the way.
Time to get back in the saddle(mt bike that is), maybe this week.
